I have always had an intense appreciation and respect for my children’s teachers, but to say that my admiration for them has grown to a whole other level over the last several months would be the understatement of the century! This Spring, I, along with many of you, had to take on the task of educating our children from home. A daunting job that I’m sure none of us ever considered would be ours. Yes, we were thrown a total curve ball, but so were our teachers. On a whim, they were asked to create online lesson plans, and told they would need to educate our children virtually, while also providing us parents the tools we would need to teach our children from home. I can only imagine how hard this was for them, as many of our teachers also have their own families to look after while still continuing to work.
While they have been busy working hard now behind the scenes, we as parents had to step it up at home too. Keeping my kids on task without the structure they were used to in the classroom forced me to think outside the box, trying everything I could think of to keep them motivated. I don’t know about you guys, but snacks rule my kid’s worlds. I have found that one of the best ways to keep them engaged, is to take snack breaks often. Quaker Kids Organic recently sent over a box full of their bars and bites, along with some fun craft supplies to create a few special thank you gifts for our teachers. My kids have been loving their whole grain bars and bites, and so have I. They make snack time super easy, and they’re full of good stuff. The soft-baked bars come in both chocolate and strawberry flavors, and the crunchy snack-sized bites have strawberry and blueberry pieces baked right into them. Both the bars and the bites contain 11-19g of 100% Whole Grains per serving. They also contain no artificial flavors, no added colors, and no high fructose corn syrup. With 5-6 grams of sugar in each, I feel good about giving them to my kids because they are also Certified Organic, and Non-GMO Project verified. You can learn more about Quaker Kids Organic Whole Grain Bars and Whole Grain Bites HERE, and you can find more information on where you can purchase them in your area by clicking HERE.
We had a lot of fun snacking on our Quaker Kids Organic snacks while we got busy making some gifts for our teachers with the supplies they sent over. I want to encourage you all to still find a way to thank your kid’s teachers for all that they do, even though this school year may not have ended in the way it typically would. A card from your child, a picture they colored, or a video would all go a really long way. Quaker Kids Organic has even provided a “We Love Our Teachers” PDF that you can print by clicking HERE and have your kids color. You could consider snapping a photo of it completed and send it to their teachers via email. We colored ours and we will also be sending them some handwritten notes, as well as these cute frames that my kids painted with the quote “You are making a difference every day”.
What were some things you guys did to keep your kids on task with their virtual learning?
