It’s that time again. The Big Game is right around the corner, and if I’m being honest with you guys, for me it’s always so much more about the food then it is about the football. Sorry, but not really. Give me an excuse to run with a theme and create a super fun and tasty dish that my kids and husband will be excited about when we gather for kickoff, and that is truly all I need.
This year I really wanted to come up with something fun for noshing on that my family could share, but also help themselves to and make their own. That’s when I came across McCain Dip’N Wedges, a NEW and unique fry that is cut in a V-shape and allows you to load them up with toppings and dips to create a wide array of tasty appetizers. As soon as I saw them, I just knew that I wanted to create a game-day loaded potato wedge bar for us to share complete with a fun football theme, lots of tasty toppings, and some yummy dips to get everyone even more amped up. My kids love any opportunity to get creative with food, so I knew they would be all over this idea.
Dip’N Wedges are the perfect starting point for an epic potato wedge bar. You can find them in the freezer section of your favorite local retailer, making it easy to keep them on hand for the game or whenever the mood for a yummy appetizer strikes. Their one of a kind V-shape makes them ideal for loading up with toppings and dipping in your favorite dipping sauces.
Okay, so what do you need to create the perfect game day potato wedge bar of your own you ask? For mine, I started by stocking up on all of my family’s favorite toppings and dips. Next, I baked a couple of packages of McCain Dip’N Wedges. While they were baking, I got to work on dicing, chopping, and filling lots of bowls full of fun stuff to top our wedges with. Don’t be afraid to get creative with this. For ours I decided to go with scallions, red onion, tomato, bacon, grated cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, ranch dressing, barbeque sauce, and ketchup. The topping possibilities are endless. I also think that guac, salsa, and even a warm cheese sauce could be fun additions here. One of the greatest things about serving up a potato wedge bar as a game day meal, is that you don’t have to spend the day in the kitchen. It’s as easy as baking up some Dip’N Wedges and prepping your toppings.
Let’s not forget that we’re celebrating the Big Game here. Have fun with your decor too. I hit up our local craft store and snagged some green felt to use as the foundation for our potato wedge bar, along with some other football decor, and some football themed paper goods to keep the clean up simple too.
To create your own loaded potato wedge bar for the big game, be sure to purchase McCain Dip’N Wedges at your local retailer!
