Once upon a time I considered myself to be pretty crafty. Fast forward to the last couple of years, and I feel like I barely have the time to get creative anymore! I am the queen of starting projects and not finishing them. Lucky for me, this little DIY project only takes about 10 minutes total.
I’ve become addicted to painting these gingham pumpkins. They’re so simple, but fun, and thanks to the fact that you can use faux pumpkins, I’ll have them for years to come! Of course you can find all of the supplies at any craft store this season, but as luck would have it, I grabbed my supplies at Target seeing as I’m there no less than 3 times a week!
Here’s what you need to make a gingham pumpkin of your own….
Supplies
Faux white pumpkin(s)
Paint brush
2 paint colors, the same color, but one in a lighter shade and one darker. (Examples: black and Gray, lavender and dark purple, pale pink and dark pink, light blue and navy, etc.)
Okay, let’s get started
Step 1: gather your materials.
Step 2: Following the natural shape of the pumpkin, paint vertical stripes in the lighter shade all the way around.
Step 3: Now, using the same color, paint horizontal stripes, as pictured above, creating a checkerboard pattern.
Step 4: Allow paint to dry.
Step 5: Once lighter paint is dry, take your darker paint and paint squares everywhere the pattern overlaps, as pictured above. Allow to dry.
Step 6: Buy like 50 faux pumpkins and repeat because it’s addicting!
