It’s finally April and officially spring, which means it’s time to stash away all of our winter stuff and start preparing for the warmer days that lay ahead. In other words, it’s time for a spring refresh. This time of year always motivates me to freshen things up around our home, to take on some new projects, and to lighten and brighten things up a bit.
With spring’s arrival and summer around the corner, our guest bedroom and the kid’s bathroom (which also serves as our guest bathroom), both start to see a lot more traffic. Our family and friends tend to visit more in the warmer months, so I wanted to freshen up those spaces, specifically, in preparation for our guests. For this, I turned to Garnet Hill to find the perfect items. Garnet Hill is a brand that I often look to, because they design their collections with purpose. Their pieces are beautiful and timeless essentials, which is why I love having them in our home.
In the guest bedroom, I stripped the flannel sheets and heavy comforter that were on the bed and added some brighter colored and lighter linens. I like to layer bedding so that our guests can be comfortable based on their preferences. When I came across Garnet Hill’s Dream Quilt and Dream Shams in the faded violet color, it was love at first sight. You guys, this color is stunning! I eventually would like to paint our guest bedroom, but loved the shade of this quilt so much that I will be sure to pick a color for the walls that works with it. I always like quilts when the weather starts to get warmer, and then add a heavier blanket at the foot of the bed for situations that call for an extra layer. The Dream Quilt is so gorgeous, and the quality is incredible.
Our kid’s/guest bathroom was in desperate need of a refresh (stay tuned for a post on how we updated it on a budget!), and this season I finally felt inspired to go for it! I painted the room a pretty light gray color and then added a new shower curtain and fresh linens to the space as well. The Medallion Linen shower curtain from Garnet Hill caught my eye, and I knew it was perfect for the space. The charcoal colored pattern perfectly matched our newly painted vanity. I love color, but in my opinion, you can never go wrong with neutrals in a shared space! I added Garnet Hill’s Cotton Tufted Bath Rug in Steel to stick with the color scheme, and I love the way it feels under your feet. I also went with their Signature Egyptian Towels in both Steel and Birch. These towels are incredibly soft, super absorbent, and so well made!
It always amazes me how much a change in bedding and linens can freshen up a space for the season. A few simple switches and updates here and there, and now our home feels ready for spring and to host a whole slew of guest over the next several months! If I’m being completely honest though, I love the new bedding in our guest room so much, I may be sneaking in there to enjoy it myself!
