It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!! In all seriousness though, the holiday season really is my most favorite part of the entire year, so as you can imagine, I couldn’t wait to bust out our decor and start decking the halls again. We hosted a little “kick off to the holiday season” party the weekend following Thanksgiving this year, so I really did have to get to work on the decorating even earlier than usual. Naturally I had zero complaints about this. For me, the longer I can drag out the festive decor, the better. Our house has come a long way since last Christmas. We’ve completed quite a few renovation projects, painted more walls than I care to count, and put the finishing touches on certain rooms with the perfect pieces of furniture and/or light fixtures. We still have a lot to do on our second floor, but I have to say that decorating our first floor was a lot more fun this year.
I’m a traditionalist for the most part when it comes to decorating for Christmas. I usually stick with basic holiday color schemes, and I tend to shy away from anything gaudy or over the top. It just isn’t my style. Our tree is an eclectic mix of ornaments collected over the years, each of which hold a special memory. Each year I let each of my kids choose a new ornament, and I mark them discretely with their initials and the year so they’ll each have a collection when they’re grown. I love white twinkle lights to a fault, and prefer real trees over faux trees any day, because the smell of fresh pine is what I live for all year long.
Grab yourself a peppermint mocha, or some hot cocoa with extra marshmallows, of course, and come on in.;
Hope you enjoyed the home tour!
