A big thank you to Playtex Baby™️ for sponsoring this post, #ForBetterBeginnings and for helping make this #PlaytexMom’s life a little easier! As always, all of the thoughts and opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
It’s been a really long time since I did a “day in the life” post, and I figured now that school was back in and I’m balancing having a five-month-old, a toddler, and two kids in school, it would be a great time to give you guys a little peek at what a typical day looks like around here. I always love reading these posts when other bloggers write them, because they help me feel like I’m not alone in this chaotic life that I lead. Plus, it’s always fun to see how other mamas manage things and hold it all together (or in my case, at least try!). I can say for certain that it isn’t always glamorous over here, but one way or another, we find a way to make it work.
5:30 A.M.- The days tend to start pretty early around here. Theo, my two-year-old, is up before the sun rises most days, and within minutes he demands a drink. Usually I get him some water in a Playtex® Sipsters® cup, change his diaper, and then he climbs back into bed with us for a short while. Thankfully the Sipsters® cups are leak-proof, so I never have to worry about a spill in our bed.
6:30 A.M.- Usually around 6:30-7, both Max (6) and Ella (4), start to get out of bed. This is when the day really starts rolling, because it means it’s time to make breakfast and start getting everyone ready for the day. I usually serve them some yogurt, a mini bagel, and some berries or a banana with the hopes of keeping their bellies full until snack time!
7:00 A.M.- I start laying out everyone’s clothes and start helping them get ready for the day. Thankfully, Max dresses himself, once I get him an outfit, but I always have to help Ella a little, and dress Lilah and Theo plus change their diapers, which I ditch in our Playtex® Diaper Genie®, so I don’t have to worry about the smell!
7:30 A.M.- If I didn’t get to it the night before, this is when I pack lunches and snacks for the day. Playtex® Sipster® cups are filled, and of course I can’t forget to throw something in a Twist ‘n Click™ Snacker for Theo to munch on in the car while we run around all morning.
7:45 A.M.- This is usually around the time that I start feeling the stress of the clock. Getting four kids dressed and out the door in time to get Max to the bus stop is no easy task. Some days everyone cooperates and we don’t have to rush. Other days I am shuffling everyone out the door and praying we make it on time!
8:05 A.M.- Max is on the bus, and I’m down to three kids, yet for some reason my job doesn’t get that much easier. We rush back to the house so that I can feed Lilah one last time before I’m piling everyone into the car to get Ella off to school.
8:40 A.M.- We hit the road for preschool and prepare ourselves for drop off line… something I am incredibly grateful for because it saves me from having to get multiple children out of and back into car seats. Theo generally tells me to “go” no less than 30 times as we slowly make our way to the front of the line.
9:00 A.M.- Ella is dropped off and I’m usually on auto-pilot straight to the nearest drive-thru for coffee.
9:15-11:40 A.M.- This is the time I usually use to run any errands I have… The grocery store, Target, returns or exchanges… all of these things are infinitely easier to accomplish with two kids vs. four, so I take full advantage while the big kids are at school. I also try to use this time to exercise (gym or a run/walk at the park), to respond to emails, and if Lilah is napping and Theo is playing, I try to get some work done.
12:00 P.M.- We’re back in car line to pick up Ella and then we’re headed home to prepare lunch. My younger kids are not big eaters, but they’re definitely snackers, so I love to use the PlaytexBaby™ Use 3 Way Plates to make them little a la carte style lunches. The sections on the plates are perfect for this!
1:00-3:15 P.M.- This is one of my favorite parts of the day! Theo goes down for his nap, Lilah usually naps, and Ella plays (mostly) independently. This is when I’m usually running around like mad, trying to clean house, fold laundry, possibly do some dinner prep, and try to get more work done/respond to emails. It doesn’t always work out that way though. Sometimes Lilah doesn’t sleep, or Ella needs me to play with her, which is part of my role as a mom, so I’m happy to oblige!
3:30-5:00 P.M.- We get Max off the bus, and “witching hour” begins. This is pretty much the craziest part of our day. Snacks are served up, and we are usually off to gymnastics, or CCD, or outside to play. Basically, we’re going 100 miles an hour until daddy gets home and it’s time for dinner. On occasion I have to leave Lilah with my husband, and that’s when I’m the most thankful for our Playtex Baby™ Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liner bottles. Lilah is exclusively breastfed, so these bottles have been a huge help to us!
6:45 P.M.- Our bedtime routine starts. Baths and showers are given, and storytime and tucking in commences. When my husband is home, we divide and conquer, but if he is tied up with work or traveling, you can usually find me whispering under my breath, “I CAN do this. I WILL survive!”
7:30-8:30 P.M.- Generally during this timeframe, all four kids are put to bed and off to sleep, including the baby. This is the point in the day when I finally catch my breath, grab a quick shower, and crawl into bed and prepare myself to do it all over again the following day. This life is exhausting, but in the most fulfilling way.
