There are some really great benefits to the influence that older brothers and sisters can have on their younger siblings. Encouraging them to want to potty train early is definitely one of them. Thanks to the fact that Theo wants to do everything that Max and Ella do, and he sees them using the “big kid potty” regularly, he has started expressing interest in doing the same pretty early on. Of course now that we just welcomed Lilah to the family, I am all for getting Theo out of diapers sooner rather than later. He only turned two in April though, and with all of the big changes around here recently, I’m not strongly pushing the idea, but rather just working with the fact that he’s at least interested. He’s aware of the fact that his older siblings wear underwear, and that he wears diapers, so one of the ways we’re helping to encourage this “big boy behavior” is by using Huggies Pull-Ups.
Pull-Ups have always been a go-to for us in the early stages of potty training. They feel and function more like underwear thanks to the fact that your big kid can step into them and slide them up and down, yet they still offer amazing leakage protection and great absorbency. This design definitely helps make Theo feel like a big kid, even though we’re still only trying to encourage the idea of potty training. He loves the idea that he’s wearing real underwear, and the fact that they are adorned with his favorite characters like Mickey Mouse and Lightening McQueen is an added bonus! Along with the use of Pull-Ups, we also ask him if he wants to use the big kid potty, and occasionally allow him to sit on it to get used to the idea. Otherwise we know the rest of it will come when he is 100% ready.
So far we’ve been pretty fortunate in terms of our kids potty training overnight fairly easily, but we’ve always relied on Pull-Ups to keep them dry through the night, and we intend to do the same with Theo. Since Amazon is life, and we couldn’t live without our Prime membership, we like to take advantage of their Subscribe and Save option when it comes to items that we use regularly. Buying our Pull-Ups this way gets us 20% off and free delivery!
I’m not entirely sure if Theo will be fully potty trained before our older kids, but I like to think that we are helping him along by using Pull-Ups. Fingers Crossed!
