It’s been a pretty big year for our family, but for Theo in particular, it’s been a really big year, and it’s about to get even bigger. He’s experienced quite a bit between his first and second years of life. There have been a lot of changes, a lot of firsts and whole lot of new and exciting things have happened. Since early Fall, our little guy has endured a huge move (to a new house in a new state), he has grown and developed by leaps and bounds, and he has been informed that this Spring, he will become a big brother!!! You’d think that all of that would be pretty overwhelming for a guy under the age of two, but he’s taken it all in stride. With this biggest change (a new baby) fast approaching, we’ve all been trying to help him prepare, so it’s not such a shock when the time comes that he’s not the “baby” of the house anymore.
For being the youngest (for now), Theo certainly makes up for it with his BIG personality. Over the past several months, he’s really come into his own, and it’s safe to say that we all can’t get enough of this kid. He has developed some pretty incredible dance moves, likes to think that he’s the boss, and he seems to have mixed feelings about welcoming a new baby sister into the mix.
Big Brother/Big Sister
To help him with the big adjustment, we have given him a baby doll of his very own, and we even picked up a “little sister” outfit for her from Carter’s . This is something we have done with all of our kids to help them prepare for their new role. I feel like it really helps to encourage the fact that with a newborn in the house, we have to be gentle. He’s really taken to the whole concept, which has helped to ease some of my anxiety about this big change coming our way. He loves pretending to feed his baby a bottle, he loves to hold her and rock her, and he especially loves giving her hugs and kisses, which totally melts my mama heart. In addition to the doll, we talk about baby sister a whole lot around here. Theo loves to pull up my shirt, and rubbing and kissing my belly while saying “hi baby!” and Max and Ella, who are seasoned professionals now at welcoming younger siblings, are really into feeling their sister kick, and learning about how she is growing inside my belly.
With You From the Start
One thing that has become a tradition for us, is getting our kids “big brother” and “big sister” outfits from Carter’s, so that they can proudly wear their new labels for the whole world to see. Max actually wore a “big brother” shirt in the photo that we used when we announced that Ella was on the way, and Ella and Max rocked similar shirts when we announced Theo’s impending arrival to our friends and family. Carter’s has been our go-to for the perfect big brother/big sister outfits and so much more from the start.
As a matter of fact, over these last few months, with Theo quickly growing and our baby girl arriving soon, I have been going through a lot of my kid’s old clothing. Pulling out Max’s old stuff for Theo and Ella’s for the new baby has left me feeling so nostalgic. Carter’s has been a part of so many of my kid’s biggest milestones. Looking at the teeny tiny outfits that they each wore home from the hospital and during those first days of life, the outfits that they wore to commemorate their first holidays, and the adorable footie pajamas that they wore when they first slept through the night has left me so emotional. I suppose it’s a testament to the quality of Carter’s clothing that these outfits have stood the test of time and are able to be passed down so that younger siblings can wear them too for a whole other round of firsts.
Best Sister Tee | Floral Leggings | Little Sister Bodysuit
As always, Carter’s has the cutest baby clothes for Spring. So, in addition to decking my kid’s out in their big brother and big sister gear, I couldn’t resist buying them all matching pajamas, and stocking up on some adorable items for our baby girl too. Itty bitty baby clothes will always be my weakness.
Carter’s new campaign is all about being “With You From the Start”, and they have certainly been with our family from the very beginning. You can watch their adorable video about the campaign here, and be sure to check out their Spring line in stores and online now!
