I have a confession to make… My kids actually LOVE brushing their teeth. I’m not kidding! When they are kicking and screaming and downright objecting bedtime, I can simply utter the words “let’s go brush your teeth”, and before you know it they are running up the stairs! I realize that this isn’t the norm, but in a world chock full of parenting struggles, I’m riding the wave on this one.
I have another confession to make. Are you ready for this one? I let my kids eat sweets! This holiday season we have already built gingerbread houses, baked cookies, and indulged in hot cocoa with extra marshmallows and candy canes. I know, I’m horrible. In all honesty though, I’m a firm believer in everything in moderation, and in letting my kids be kids.
With all that being said, I take our dental routine pretty seriously. As in you must brush twice a day, no excuses! I didn’t experience my first cavity until I was in my thirties, and I hope the same will go for my children.
As you can imagine, since M&E are avid tooth brushers, they tend to get pretty excited about tooth brushes and toothpaste. I get excited about great products and zero cavities, which is why I am totally in love with hello brand’s toothpaste. You better believe with fun, kid-friendly toothpaste flavors like Bubblegum, Blue Raspberry, and fluoride-free Natural Watermelon that my kids were even more pumped than normal to brush. In addition to being the best kid’s toothpaste, they also make adult flavors like Mojito Mint and Extra Whitening, which is a must-have for someone who consumes as much coffee as I do these days!
As a mom, what I love about hello products is the fact that they contain no artificial sweeteners, dyes, paragons, triclosan or microbeads. All of their toothpastes are vegan and gluten free too, and as an added bonus, they are a company that cares about the environment. Their packaging is made from 100% recycled paper and they are totally against testing their products on animals… all huge pluses for me!
No more weird green or sparkly blue toothpaste for us, we’re officially hooked.
You can find hello toothpaste at Target, Walmart, and on Amazon (plus a number of other retailers)… which basically means we NEVER run out!
Even though it doesn’t take much to get my kids to brush regularly, I created this fun chart to keep us on track. I need all of the help I can get to remember things, and they enjoy stickers, so we keep one of these charts for each of them in the bathroom, and when it’s full, they get a small treat. What can I say, sometimes bribery is key!
You can print one for your own kids by clicking here!
What do you do to encourage your kids to brush?
Be sure to checkout hello products here, and to follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram to keep up with all of the fun!

I love this post for SO many reasons! I am jealous that your kids love to brush their teeth and that you didn’t have a cavity for 30+ years! I hope my kids will have that luck. I always forget to brush mine but I try and make my kids brush theirs twice a day too. I am totally downloading that printable and keeping it in their bathroom, and maybe mine too 🙂
