Baby Bathtime Favorites

There are few things in life that make me as happy as a baby fresh out of the tub.  The smell of a just-clean babe is, without a doubt, one of my favorite scents on earth.

When it comes to my kids, I have always believed that establishing some sort of bath time routine early on was best.  Particularly if you make that routine a part of your bedtime ritual… it seems to help them relax, and sends the message that after the bath, it’s time to sleep.

Now that I’ve been at this for awhile, I thought I would share some of our “bath time favorites” for infants… 

 

Baby Shampoo

When it comes to shampoo I definitely think it is a matter of preference.  There are tons of great brands, scents, and formulas available now, to suit every baby/parent’s needs.  We like Honest Company shampoos/bodywashes, but have used and liked other brands as well.  Whatever you choose, just be sure that it is meant for and safe for use on babies.

Baby Tub

A safe place to wash your baby is definitely an essential. We just started using this tub when our third child came along, and I have nothing but good things to say about it.  We used it from the very beginning, and our son has always been content while bathing in it.  I love that it just sets in a tub or the sink, and that it’s super lightweight and easy to move around. 

Nuby Comb and Brush Set

Nuby has long been one of our favorite brands when it comes to items for little ones, so it’s no surprise that this brush and comb set are a favorite of ours.  This set is especially designed for babies that are newborn to toddler age, comes in 3 kid friendly colors, and is BPA free. I love the brush for that super fine baby hair.  The bristles are soft, the size is just right, and the design is really cute. Around 2-3 months of age, I like to integrate tooth and gum care into our bath time routine.  The earlier you begin this, the easier it will be later on for your kids to understand the importance of brushing their teeth regularly. Aquaphor

This old standby is a definite post-bath favorite. It’s super rich, and works great on sensitive baby skin.  I like to give my little ones a little pre-bedtime massage with this because it helps to relax them and keeps their skin super soft. As an added bonus, I also use this as a barrier cream in the place of diaper rash cream, and it’s great for when babies begin teething at preventing chaffage and raw skin.

Hooded Bath Towels and Baby Washcloths

I’m a big fan of the hooded bath towel… number one, because babies just look so darn cute in them, and number two, because they’re perfect for drying your little one off and wrapping them up in to snuggle them while they dry. I prefer baby washcloths because I think they are softer than regular ones, so they feel better on a baby’s sensitive skin.
